openCOAS: Framing the architecture of Seville’s future.

The Official College of Architects of Seville (COAS) is the professional organization that includes architects in the province of Seville. As part of the renewal process initiated by the institution, it agreed to launch a competition for ideas to renew its corporate image, of which Lugadero emerged as the winner, and which would represent COAS in the coming years.

AN IDENTITY THAT IS, IN ITSELF, ARCHITECTURE

Symbolizing and materializing the identity of those who will create the cities of the future, through an institution that represents the architecture professionals of the province of Seville, in a plural, diverse, open, and transparent manner, would be the main objective of this new visual and verbal universe.

The graphic structure of the proposed identity would be developed from the typographic acronym COAS (opting to maintain this term for its well-established social recognition), framed by lines that connect the “A” and “S,” two letters with differential meanings, Architecture and Seville. These lines would delineate, as if in a floor plan, a symbolic space on which to project and imagine, and an open window to the citizenry. Thus, a flexible and dynamic brand is created capable of qualifying the concepts, media, and images it contains. An identity that responds elastically to the new communication needs, both online and offline, adapting to all media and applications with its own unmistakable character.

AN INSTITUTION MORE OPEN AND ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC

This brand would symbolize COAS’s new way of communicating, showing its approach to the discipline from diversity and plurality. The entity would thus present itself as a local reference within society, making known its social value and that of its members. With these “architectures,” a versatile identity would be created, in line with the institution’s personality and adapting to the new challenges of the profession. To develop this visual identity, adapt it to each medium, and structure its graphic system, it would be chosen to adjust it to all color options, allowing the modulation of communication tone according to different applications and highlighting the diversity of the collective.

This redesign would give rise to a broad visual universe and implement the brand for essential digital developments. Both on social networks and on the COAS website itself, the strategies of this renewed identity would be applied, mutating and interacting with different media, remaining in the foreground and helping to consolidate the institution’s recognition.
